With the recent lockdowns for the 11 Local Government Areas (LGA’s) in Queensland, the Federal Government wallets have been prised open for individuals. In addition, support packages have been announced by the State Government for businesses impacted by the lockdowns.
Here is what we know so far for businesses…
The Queensland Government has announced an extended lockdown until 4pm Sunday 8th August. Together with the extended lockdown, they have also announced a Business Support Package designed to provide financial support to eligible businesses impacted by the lockdown on Saturday 31 July 2021. Grants of $5,000 will be made available to employing small and medium businesses across Queensland to assist with cashflow support as they adapt to evolving circumstances.
To be eligible to receive the grant, you must meet the following criteria:
UPDATE: This grant has been extended to large businesses operating in the hospitality and tourism sectors, including businesses that are outside the 11 LGAs, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
UPDATE: Sole traders who have employees will be eligible for the grant if they are not receiving or are not eligible to receive the COVID-19 Disaster Payment from the Federal Government.

However, your business does not need to be located within SEQ, but to be eligible you do need to have evidence that you have been impacted by the lockdowns in the 11 LGA’s.
UPDATE: Applications for the 2021 COVID-19 Business Support Grant will open at 12pm on 16th August, and will remain open for three months, so there is time to get your application ready and apply.
More information on how to apply will be provided in the coming days on the QLD Government website, but what we do know is that you will need to provide supporting evidence with your application and grants will be processed in the order they are received.
